Charming antique wall-mounted holy water font in patinated brass , finely crafted and decorated with a religious scene depicting the Crucifixion .
It depicts Christ on the cross , flanked by the Virgin Mary and Saint John , according to Christian iconographic tradition.
This type of holy water font was often hung at the entrance of houses or in bedrooms, to allow believers to make the sign of the cross before prayer .
Its architectural decoration and expressive reliefs make it a beautiful object that is both devotional and decorative , typical of productions from the first half of the 20th century.
