Rare copy of volume 3 of the famous Japanese art magazine 「美術世界」( Bijutsu Sekai – The World of Art ) , published in Tokyo by Shunyōdō between 1890 and 1894 under the direction of the painter and illustrator Watanabe Seitei (渡辺省亭) .
This incomplete volume contains 4 original Japanese prints ( nishiki-e ) accompanied by explanatory and poetic texts in Japanese .
Each plate finely illustrates nature, birds and flowers, in the pure tradition of kachō-ga (Japanese naturalist painting).
Bound in the Japanese style ( fukuro-toji ) with a blue thread , this art booklet testifies to the exceptional craftsmanship of the publisher Shunyōdō and the aesthetic richness of Meiji -era Japan (1868–1912).
The prints are fresh and well preserved , on period washi paper , and reveal a highly precise hand-printing technique.
