Written by Ryūta Seika (柳田静花) and illustrated by the famous master Utagawa Toyokuni III (歌川豊国三代) , this rare gōkan (popular illustrated novel) blends samurai scenes , epic tales and satire, in the grand tradition of woodblock prints ( mokuhanga ).
Each page features exceptionally fine inkwork, printed on period washi paper and bound by hand. This work is a precious testament to 19th-century Japanese literary culture and a rare collector's item for enthusiasts of Asian art, antique books, and ukiyo-e.
