Superb antique Persian rug of Iranian origin, entirely handwoven in wool on a cotton warp , with geometric patterns typical of the Bakhtiari tribes .
This rug is distinguished by its three interlocking diamond-shaped medallions , adorned with stylized floral motifs and surrounded by a grid background with tribal patterns , framed by several very detailed, thin borders.
The natural colors — brick red, midnight blue, ivory and brown — are obtained from plant pigments, giving the room a warm and authentic harmony .
The dense knotting work (approximately 200,000 knots/m²) and the fineness of the patterns make it a representative example of 19th century Persian craftsmanship .
This type of rug is typical of the Zagros region (central Iran) , often made by nomadic or semi-nomadic families, for domestic or ceremonial use.
